Save Sweet Haven Horses!

Sweet Haven for Horses     W4207 US Highway 151         Chilton, WI 53014
  (920) 204-2627

Pastor David Ward has taken on an incredible mission, saving unwanted horses.  These horses range from Starlight, who would have been killed along with her unborn foal had Pastor Dave not saved her from slaughter, to Whisper, who still bares a scar on her face as evidence of the treatment she recieved before being saved.  Every horse at Sweet Haven Ranch has a story.

Miracles happen at this ranch.  Horses people gave up on become ridable, like Valentine, now gentle enough for a beginner rider.  People find peace there working with the horses.  Children with disabilities have known the joy of riding here.  There is no place like this in northeastern Wisconsin, possibly in the entire state.  Please help the horses.

Bring your pets for updates on their rabies and distemper vaccinations, microchipping and licensing! We will be accepting CASH ONLY. No credit cards will be accepted. Hope to see you there!

The Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) currently rescues and assures safe, temporary shelter, veterinary, and humane care for more than 11,000 stray, unwanted, abandoned, mistreated, and injured animals each year — more than any other animal control shelter in Wisconsin.

MADACC provides a central location for owners to find and recover their lost pets at 3839 W. Burnham St. in West Milwaukee and is open seven days a week, including evening hours on weekdays.

MADACC works with over 75 area shelters and rescue groups to place homeless animals into adoption programs so they have a second chance at finding a permanent, caring home. Dogs and cats that are eligible for placement but have not been taken in by a shelter or rescue group are available for adoption directly from MADACC.

Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation 2016 Hay Drive

MHWF           10990 Hwy. 73                   Pittsville, WI 54466            715-884-2215

A Rare and Special Opportunity for MHWF!
http://www.equineadoption.com/haydrive.htm

This year we met someone who not only believes in what MHWF does, but also lives nearby, makes a lot of hay and takes pride in the quality of their hay, growing it specifically for horses. We went and inspected the hay and are very, very happy with the quality of it, better than we have had available to us for quite some time. Because of this person, we were able to secure the entire year's worth of hay in one fell swoop, locally (only 7 miles away), at a very good price and even have it stored indoors for us this year. This is some of the best news we have had in a long, long time and if we make good on our deal, we can continue it next year and hopefully for years to come. The best news about all of this is that if we can make this happen and hold up our end of the deal, we will be cutting our yearly hay bill almost in half! That's right, in half! (Last winter we spent $20,300 on hay.)

The Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation is dedicated to providing qualified homes for any horse in need. It is our goal to make certain that every horse placed in our care is provided with all the necessary ingredients for a safe and happy life, and that it is also protected from those who would do it harm.

Each horse placed in our care will receive our full efforts to ensure that it never ends up in the auction ring or on the slaughterhouse floor. We promise to do our best to provide only the best homes with dedicated families for every animal we place.

Volunteers from Heartland Farm Sanctuary will be on hand  to discuss their wonderful programs and how to donate and volunteer!

Heartland Farm Sanctuary, which opened in 2010, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping homeless farm animals in Wisconsin, and building connections between animals and vulnerable youth. We created Heartland to provide a safe, peaceful environment where youth and farm animals could come together to heal, grow, and have fun.

Many children today face significant life challenges such as physical, emotional, or cognitive developmental delays, a history of delinquent behavior or other detrimental life choices, or an abusive or otherwise troubling home life. Research has shown that these children can benefit tremendously by taking part in animal-assisted therapeutic activities, such as those programs developed by Heartland using the farm animals we help. http://heartlandfarmsanctuary.org/

8th Annual National Honey Bee Day
2016 National Honey Bee Day Theme:
Beekeeping: A Hobby with A Sweet Taste!
Across Wisconsin and USA

National Honey Bee Day was started by grassroots minded beekeepers to build community awareness of the bee industry, through education and promotion. Our commitment is to continue that philosophy. (Honey Bees are the state insect of Wisconsin. Learn more  http://www.wisconsinanimals.org/Latest_News.html

The date(s) for National Honey Bee Day was specifically selected to not interfere with other national pollinator, honey programs, and national/regional conferences. We also wanted a date that was convenient to beekeepers having honey, before the start of the school calendar, and prior to winter setting in early for northern states. With this mind, we wanted a stand alone program, aimed specifically at beekeepers and promotion of beekeeping. Our goal is to include as many associations, bee clubs, and individual programs as possible.  2009 - The first National Honey Bee Day program was held August 22, 2009.   Pls visit to learn more. http://www.nationalhoneybeeday.com/

'Word With a Bird' Workshop

Schultz Audubon Nature Center 1111 E. Brown Deer Rd.      Milwaukee, WI 53217

Fall is in the air. Days are shorter, temperatures are dropping and there is less food about. These are cues for our warm weather visitors to start moving south for the fall migration. We showcase our resident birds who would migrate and discuss why this is can be a great survival strategy.

This event is handicap accessible.    Free with membership or admission. We are located on the shores of Lake Michigan, east of Lake Drive and about 1 mile east of I-43. We are 15 minutes north of downtown Milwaukee.   Website http://www.sanc.org/      Info, please call (414) 352-2880

The Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project

The Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit organization. On December 1, 2009, our decade-long dream was realized when, with his signature, Governor Doyle turned AB-250, the Dog Breeders Licensure Bill, into the ground-breaking Commercial Dog Breeders Licensure Law. Eileen Ribbens is Executive Director, Founder.

Our goal is to offer a valuable educational resouce for:
-those seeking to end the institutionalized form of animal cruelty known as "puppy mills"
-those looking for ways to fight abuse in their own neighborhoods those wishing to add a healthy, loving, animal companion to their families

Members of our group started working to alleviate the suffering of mill dogs in 1999 and officially organized as the Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project, Inc., in 2004. Our mission is to educate the public about puppy mills, to prevent cruelty to animals, to foster understanding of responsible pet acquisition and ownership, and to promote adoption of homeless companion animals. Dedicated to Mr. Peabody. Read his story. Visit  http://www.nowisconsinpuppymills.com/

Citizens United for Animals, Inc.

CUFA      PO Box 170414    Milwaukee, WI 53217

Citizens United for Animals: Our primary goal is to bring attention to the systematic abuse of animals, both globally and locally, and the alarming extent of the problem. It is CUFA’s hope that those so enlightened will feel compelled to take a greater interest in the welfare of all creatures on this planet, work for improved lives for all species, and forgo those practices and possessions which necessitate the suffering and killing of defenseless animals.

CUFA monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00pm at the Outpost Coop at 100 E. Capital Drive, Milwaukee.  It is at these meetings that current legislations, pending campaigns, upcoming events, and other business are discussed. Decisions are made as to how the membership can best work toward eliminating abuse.  It is CUFA’s desire that each sentient being on this planet live out its life in a healthy, natural fashion; unimpeded by the tastes, greed, and wantonness of mankind.   Visit website at        https://www.facebook.com/CitizensUnitedForAnimals
